Ayda Kianmehr

Ph.D. candidate, Planning, Governance, and Globalization (PGG)

Ayda is a Ph.D. candidate in the Planning, Governance, and Globalization (PGG) program at Virginia Tech. She received her bachelor’s degree in urban and regional planning and master’s degree in urban design, both from the University of Tehran, Iran. Ayda’s research mainly lies in the environmental planning field. For her dissertation, she is conducting research on the effects of morphological and vegetation-related landscape features on urban temperatures and thermal comfort. Overall, Ayda is interested in analyzing the physical and social vulnerabilities of urban environments toward climate-related hazards, especially extreme heat events.
