Flex your research skills in security studies with tailored instruction.

Topics in Security Studies: Experts, Information, and U.S. Politics will be offered online, with a mix of synchronous and asynchronous content from July 8 to August 14, 2020. This special Summer Session II course is designed as a research seminar.

Students will have the opportunity to develop their own research papers on the topic of their choice with the guidance of the instructor. The course will explore:

  • The (Reported) Death of Expertise
  • The So-Called “Deep State”
  • Anxiety and Information
  • Conspiracy Theories
  • Information Warfare
  • Science in Politics

Students will collaboratively select certain course materials (readings, videos, podcasts, etc.) relating to students’ research interests in order to help develop their projects. 

This course can be counted towards the elective requirement for the MPIA program and towards total course credits for PGG students. The course can be made available to non-enrolled students on a case-by-case basis.
